We are taking part in 13 Bridges Challenge in support of SSAFA

Oscar and I are taking part in the 13 Bridges Challenge in support of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity — walking 10 miles across 13 iconic bridges in London on 27th June 2026, to celebrate National Armed Forces Day and raise vital funds for our Armed Forces community, for a reason that is deeply personal to us.

When Oscar was born prematurely, he was in neonatal intensive care — and at the same time, my wife was becoming critically ill. What we didn’t realise then was just how serious it was. She had developed sepsis, and we were dangerously close to losing her.

In those moments, everything changes. You’re trying to be strong for your newborn, while fearing for the person you love most.

But someone listened. A SSAFA midwife recognised that something wasn’t right and acted just in time. Because of him, my wife is still here today.

SSAFA is a trusted source of support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. In 2024 alone, their teams helped more than 50,000 people — and they understand that behind every uniform is a person, and a family who may one day need support too.

This walk is our way of saying thank you — and of helping ensure that support is there for others when they need it most.
