I'm taking on the Naples to Monte Cassino Cycle for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity!

I am taking part in the Naples to Monte Cassino Cycle in support of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity on 1st-5th October 2026.

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is a trusted source of support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. In 2024 our trained teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 50,000 people, including veterans, serving personnel (regulars and reserves) and their families.

SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. And we are here for that person and their family, any time they need us and in any way they need us.

Life and training... which is prep for which?

Well, my ex-international athlete brother Matty produced a training schedule to get me up to speed. Its amazing, but doesn't life get in the way sometimes? I mean fitting it around my actual clinical work and stuff, as well as the arrival of a new and naughty baby grand-daughter kinda delays things a bit. Anyway, the miles are starting to build up in the bank, thanks to my buddies at VC Walcot and pretty decent weather. And my wife is still tolerating it all. Yay.
