I'm taking on the Naples to Monte Cassino Cycle for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity!
I am taking part in the Naples to Monte Cassino Cycle in support of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity on 1st-5th October 2026.
SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is a trusted source of support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. In 2024 our trained teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 50,000 people, including veterans, serving personnel (regulars and reserves) and their families.
SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. And we are here for that person and their family, any time they need us and in any way they need us.
Thank you so much for your kind support!

Wet, windy and tired on the Welsh borders
Monday 14th Sep Another 71 miles yesterday, and 4 gym sessions in the bank this week, as I prepare for the SSAFA the Armed Forces charity Monte Cassino ride.Yesterday’s ride can be described in 3 words, wet, windy (25mph winds) and tired. But, with less than 3 weeks to go, it’s important to get miles in the saddle and train on tired legs. I’ll be riding 200 miles in 3 days, so need to be conditioned to ride tired.
The training is going well, and I’ve lost a little weight (less to carry around on the bike), but I am still not quite match fit. I’ll have a rest day today before getting back to training tomorrow, ahead of a busy week with work.
It would be great if you could sponsor me, to give me the added motivation to take on the hills in Italy and to support our armed forces people, veterans and their families.

First 60 mile ride of the year done
Monday 31st Aug I spent the weekend in lovely Wensleydale, where I consumed my bodyweight in cheese. I decided to try and lose that in one ride. 60 miles and 2.8k calories consumed. Not a bad effort, on a windy and rainy day, and great training for the Monte Cassino ride in a months time. ShareThank you to my Sponsors
