SSAFA (The Armed Forces Charity)
What SSAFA does
SSAFA helps people in the Armed Forces community navigate life’s challenges, both during and after service. Support is needs‑led and confidential, and can include:
- Financial assistance (grants for essentials, debt support, emergency needs)
- Housing support (homelessness prevention, accommodation advice)
- Mental health and wellbeing support
- Family support (relationship breakdown, caring responsibilities, bereavement)
- Practical advice on benefits, employment and civilian life transition
How support is delivered
- A nationwide network of trained volunteers working alongside professional staff
- Local SSAFA branches provide face‑to‑face, tailored support
- Assistance is often coordinated with other military charities and public services
Who can access help
Anyone who is serving or has served, as well as their partners, children and dependants, regardless of when or how long they served.
